First Contract Program

In Partnership with the Government Contractors Association we offer one of our most successful programs to help you grow your business in the Government Marketplace. On average a full time contract specialist as part of your marketing plan would run your organization between $90,000 and $150,000 per year as part of your staff. Our program helps educate you or your staff along the way while you secure contracts.

 

WHAT IS THE FIRST CONTRACT PROGRAM?

WACommerce is part of Government Contractors Association and bring the unique First Contract (FC) Program to the region which is a six-month program designed to help small businesses win their first contract. Through this program, you’ll get online coaching sessions, training videos, step-by-step tutorials to equip you in winning contracts, and guidance on how to navigate the contracting industry. No more than fifteen (15) companies will be selected for our next program cycle.

 

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM ENTAIL?

  • One-on-one "Kick-off" session
  • Review of your current contracting status and your goals in the program
  • 6 months intense group coaching program
  • Weekly training sessions.

These sessions are web meetings and conference calls designed to prepare your company for winning contracts. Topics will include marketing strategies, relationship building with government agencies, proposal writing, capture management, sourcing opportunities; capability statement creation, contract management and contract close out.

WHY WAS THE FIRST CONTRACT PROGRAM CREATED?

The goal of the program is to help businesses win their first contract. Based on SBA findings, small businesses comprise 99.7% of all US companies. Ironically, only 22-23% of all federal spending is awarded to small businesses. The reason for this is simple. Most small companies are not equipped with the tools and resources to thrive in the government market, nor are they equipped with the proper infrastructure and contracting personnel. As such, GCA created the First Contract Program followed by WACommerce as an affordable and effective approach to help small businesses win contracts.

(NOTE: Government Contractors Association started this program as an initiative of the association to help businesses succeed in the government market endorsed by WACommerce. This program is an effective program but is not sanctioned by the SBA or by any government agencies.)

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM?

To be eligible for the First Contract Program, your company must have less than forty employees. (If your company has forty employees or more, you may qualify for our one-on-one coaching program). While we prefer companies that have never won a prime contract before, we accept applications from companies that have won less than $100,000 in prime contracts. If you qualify for our program, you many submit an application. After a review process, you will be notified of your acceptance into the program.

 

Eligibility:

  • A small business with forty employees or less
  • Must be currently certified as an 8(a), HUBzone, SDVOSB, ED/WOSB, VOB, WOSB or Section 3
  • Have won less than $100,000 in prime contracts

WHAT TYPE OF COMPANIES ARE ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM?

We’re looking for companies run by diligent, motivated and teachable people. We’re looking for people who are responsive and responsible in their business. Finally, we’re looking for certified companies who are frustrated with the contracting process, and can’t figure out how to win their first contract.

 

HOW MANY COMPANIES WILL BE IN THE PROGRAM?

Up to fifteen companies will be selected for the program cycle. By keeping the program small, we cultivate an interactive environment that fosters growth and success. You’ll have the benefit of live instructions from the business coach and also group interactions from each other.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO BE IN THE PROGRAM?

To participate in the program requires an investment in yourself, team and your company. WACommerce members receive a substantial reduction on this program.. For non-members, the program costs are based on the industry standard for 6 month consulting program followed by 6 moths of support, which can range between $8,500 to $10,000 for similar offers... If you’re a smaller business, ask about our installment plan.
